Little River Healthcare has added a new family medicine practice to the River Place area in Austin. The practice is led by Dr. Leila Williams, who has over 15 years of experience in family medicine.
Dr. Williams received her degree as a doctor of osteopathic medicine from Western University of Health Sciences in California. She then completed her family medicine residency from the Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton in California.
She also served as an active duty U.S. Naval officer in numerous shore billets in several military installations, serving as staff family medicine physician in ambulatory care, emergency room, urgent care and inpatient settings.
She also served as a medical planner for numerous humanitarian medical and military missions while on board the U.S.S. Pelelieu and U.S.S. Boxer. She retired in 2010 from over 20 years of active duty military service, which included deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. Dr. Williams received numerous awards as a result of her outstanding service.
“Little River hired me to open a practice here in River Place,” she said. “I care for newborns up to the elderly, and I do everything that any family doctor in Austin can do.”
Outside of work, Dr. Williams is an avid runner and self-proclaimed “gym rat.”
“I work out at 4 a.m. every day and then I come into work,” she said. “I also love to check out restaurants. I love eating so that’s why I run.”
Dr. Williams also enjoys traveling and spending time with her husband and three children. She also speaks fluent Spanish and Tagalog/Filipino.
